Chocolate Cake and the Holy Spirit

Any day that I can work chocolate cake into my title is a good day, am I right? I'm glad you're with me this week, friend! I just started reading a book that is creating a fire so hot in my heart, it is burning away limitations I have placed on myself. Has this ever happened to you? I love when this happens because as humans, we put so many limitations on ourselves that we render ourselves weak or ineffective for kingdom work.

But God wants to open our eyes to truth that leads to freedom and empowerment. He has given us authority as his children and wants us to use that to be a mighty force for him on this earth.

God has given us so much “in Christ”. Today I want to talk a little about the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. When you enter into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, God changes you at your core by placing within you his Holy Spirit. Do you want to hear something that will blow your mind?

You have the same Holy Spirit living in you who also lived in Jesus and empowered him during his time on earth. If your mind is not beginning to blow after reading that statement, go back and read it again. Take a minute to digest it. I’ll wait.

Okay, I’m starting to detect at least a little bit of smoke, so we can continue.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, brought people back to life, made the deaf hear, the blind see and the lame walk. Not only this, but when Jesus was dead and buried, the Holy Spirit brought him fully back to life. This same Spirit power is in you and me, yet there are times we can’t even take authority and say no to a piece of chocolate cake!

Friend, everything the Holy Spirit was to Jesus, he can be for you. But you must know that he’s there and that he is asking you to cooperate with him to work in the power, authority and giftings God has given you.

Jesus tells us in John 14:12, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”

Friend, Jesus called you and equipped you to carry out God’s work on earth. That’s. Why. You. Exist. God created you to be a mighty force and to be in sweet relationship with himself.

Here’s a quick illustration to help you understand a bit about the Holy Spirit. Think about having an IV in your arm. You are sick and need something put directly into your veins to become healthy. If you need fluid, the IV bag will give you fluid. If you need pain meds, the bag will give you pain meds. If you are nauseous, the IV will give you anti-nausea medicine. Pretty much any nourishment you need can come through the IV.

That’s how the Holy Spirit works. God knows your heart is sick, weak and in need of him, so he puts the Holy Spirit (like the IV) inside you to administer exactly what you need, in just the right amount and at just the right time to be a strong, healthy woman who does extraordinary thing for God.

What do you need today, woman of God? Strength? Courage? Comfort? Wisdom? Hope? Peace? Faith? Discernment? Power? Grace? Mercy? Whatever it is, if it is in accordance with God’s will, the Holy Spirit will give it to you.

But, you have to ask.

So what are you waiting for? Ask him! And have a power-filled day!
