The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

Did you know that when you woke up this morning, you stepped onto a brand new page of the greatest love story ever told? That’s right! As you continue studying about who you are “in Christ”, know that your steps have been established by an author who loves you. You were chosen and carefully created by him and for him.

Without you, his story would not be complete.

His story is about a King and his beloved bride. The bride came under a terrible curse of sin which severed their relationship completely. So the King set into motion a plan to save her. The only way the curse could be broken was if the King would sacrifice his beloved Son. The King loved his bride with a greater love than anyone had ever known, so he knew his Son would have to die. The Son was willing because he knew how much his Father loved the bride, and he too, loved her with all his heart.

The people stripped the Son of his clothes and flogged him. They twisted together a crown of thorns and pushed it through the skin of his head. They mocked and spat on him. They beat him until he was unrecognizable. Finally, they pounded nails through his hands and feet and hung him on a cross to die. Darkness came over all the land.

The final blow came when the sins of all the people were cast onto him. When this happened, the King could not look at his beloved Son. The Son cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” He cried out once more in a loud voice and then gave up his spirit.

The earth had never known such darkness.

The Son was buried and those who loved the King and his Son wept bitterly.

A first-time reader of this story may think the story ends here, but not so! Three days later, word came that the Son was alive! The curse on the bride was broken!

But…

…there was one more thing that had to happen for the bride to be saved from eternal death. She must accept the fact that the King’s Son died to save her. She must choose to give up her old, cursed life and surrender herself to the King and his Son.

Would she trust his plan to save her?

Could she grasp how much he loved her?

Would she accept his gift of a new, abundant, joy-filled life?

If so, her spirit would become immortal. She would become his Chosen and Crowned. She would become co-heirs with the Son and share in his great inheritance.

If she would just say yes…

Sweet friend, you are the bride with the dreaded curse of death. Have you said yes to the King? If so, praise God, the curse has been broken. You are a new creation and have a new life because the Son died for you.

If not, tell God right now, in your own words, that you need him to save you from your sin and be Lord of your life. You can start a brand new life with God today. Send me a little note and I would love to talk more about this new life with you and answer any questions you might have. Make sure, too, that you come back next week!
