Can A Dead Marriage Be Brought Back To Life?

Seeing your marriage come back to life after it is hopelessly dead brings unspeakable joy. Imagine how the hearts of Jesus’ followers must have leapt when they realized their beloved Lord was fully alive! Mary Magdalene soaked the ground with tears of joy. Peter and John ran to the empty tomb with unrestrained excitement. When they saw Jesus, they worshipped him with awe-filled wonder. Their Lord had conquered death. Satan was defeated.

Friend, when your marriage has been seized, beaten and left for dead, know that Satan does not get the final word.  He is a defeated enemy! Right now there may be a tomb stone on your marriage. But praise be to God, the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave is the same Spirit working powerfully behind the stone that’s weighing down your marriage! Do not mourn what appears to be dead. Instead, expect to see your marriage fully alive. It’s only a matter of time before your tears of sorrow turn into tears of joy.

I’m not saying this is easy. It requires great faith. Remember what faith is? It is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1). What do you hope for, but cannot see right now? Pray for it with faith.

The scripture goes on to say that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him (Hebrews 11:6). Are you sincerely seeking God about his promises for your marriage? If so, then believe that he will reward you!

We must stand firm, sister! Right now, the devil is strategically planning his next attack on your marriage. He’s aiming for the weakest spots in your heart and mind. Where are you most vulnerable? Most likely it’s the areas where your heart has been attacked or feels the most shame and guilt. Has your husband attacked the way you take care of the kids, yourself, or the house? Has he accused you of being something you’re not? Has your husband’s addiction or stronghold made you feel ashamed? Do you feel guilty about a mistake you’ve made in your past?

Sweet friend, listen to me. Satan is the Accuser and Liar. Do you see? He will use your husband to make you feel like a bad mom, wife and homemaker. He will use your husband’s stronghold or your guilt from the past to beat you down with shame.

But not anymore!

No longer do you see your husband as the enemy. Satan is the enemy! No longer do you see your husband as the problem. Satan is the problem!

Be on the lookout today for Satan to attack you through something your husband says or does. Decide this time that you won’t fight your husband.  You will fight your real enemy. Jesus says, “I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you” (Luke 10:18, 19). The sword you fight with, dear Chosen and Crowned sister, is the Word of God. Keep praying those scripture prayers with faith!
