But It's Just The Way He Is

Welcome back! There is no formal blog today, but I wanted to give you an Action Point, our week's Prayer Point, a quote and a Scripture Prayer for your husband’s heart.

“I didn’t realize for a long time that the mind battles my husband endured did not have to be written off as ‘just the way he is.’ Nor did he have to fight them alone. If he and I were one, then an assault on his mind was an assault on me as well. I could stand with him in the battle by declaring, ‘This is not God speaking into my husband’s life, it’s the voice of the enemy. I’m not going to stand by and watch deadly games being played with his mind and our lives.'”- Stormie Omartian, The Power of a Praying Wife

Action Point: Write 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 on a dry erase board or notecard, and put it in a place where you will see it often. Meditate on it and pray it next time you need to believe bigger things for your husband’s heart.

Prayer Point 2: Pray believing that God is able to do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine.

Scripture Prayer:

Thank you, God, that you have given me all authority over the devil’s schemes. You call him the father of lies. He is an accuser, deceiver and thief. When he disguises himself and prowls around my husband looking to devour him, let him be seen for who he is! Destroy that devil, God, and protect my husband’s mind and heart, in Jesus’ name. Shield him from lies and captivate him with truth. Help him clearly discern between your voice and the enemy’s. Show him how to take hold of every thought and make it obedient to you.

Give him a thirst for your Word and a hunger for your truth so he can recognize wrong thinking. Don’t let him be battered by fear, insecurity or depression. Remind him that he has the mind of Christ. Where wrong thinking has invaded his thoughts, I pray for the Holy Spirit to cleanse his mind.

By the authority given to me in Jesus Christ, I command all lying spirits away from my husband’s mind. I proclaim that God has given (husband’s name) a sound mind. He will not entertain confusion, but live in clarity. He will not be tormented with impure, evil, negative, or sinful thoughts, but be transformed by the renewing of his mind, that he may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Enable him to be strong in you, God, and in the power of your might. Help him be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let his requests be made known to you; and may your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind through Christ Jesus. And finally, help him fix his thoughts on what is true and honorable, right and pure, lovely and admirable, excellent and worthy of praise. Help him put all that he is learning from you into practice so that your peace will be with him.

Thank you, Lord. Amen!
