“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:25

Have you seen the Always #LikeAGirl campaign? It began as a social experiment to change the meaning of “like a girl” from an insult to the ultimate compliment. The experiment has evolved into an epic battle to champion the girls we love to be confident, strong and unstoppable. To say this campaign was love-at-first-sight for me would be an understatement. I was drawn to it like a magnet to metal. Maybe it was because I have two daughters. Or maybe it was because, too often, I’ve been made to feel weak and stupid because I’m a girl. Whatever the reason, I could not pull my eyes away from the videos of girls confidently expressing their strengths. My passion to empower girls and women in their God-given worth welled up inside me.

Our verse for today says, “She is clothed with strength and dignity.” The girl in this scripture is not just strong physically, but she is strong mentally. No matter what life throws at her, she stands firm and cannot be shaken. I so want that for my daughters, don’t you? I so want that for the girls and women I minister to. So how can a girl clothe herself in strength and dignity?

She must invest herself in the One who fashioned her. The God who made all the delicate, inner parts of her body and knit her together in her mother’s womb. She must embrace the story that was hand-written for her by God before she took her first breath. Her story is one of extraordinary purpose. She has been set apart, not set aside. She is crowned with an imperishable worth because she belongs to the imperishable God. A daughter of the King. Chosen and crowned. #LikeAGodsGirl, she is confident, strong and unstoppable.

Our scripture goes on to say, “she laughs without fear of the future.” Why? Because her trust is in her Lord. She knows He loves her so magnificently. And she rests in the many blessings He has lavished on her and on those she loves. And when trouble comes, she runs to Him and He hems her in behind and before. She has no need for worry. #LikeAGodsGirl, her trust is in her Lord.

Moms, we are in an epic battle for the hearts of our daughters. This world and our enemy, Satan, wants our girls to feel weak, afraid, and incompetent. Insults are thrown at them every day. Trouble breathes around every corner. As moms, we must rise up and teach our girls how to clothe themselves with strength and dignity #LikeAGodsGirl. We must also learn to clothe ourselves #LikeAGodsGirl so our daughters can watch our lives and model our behavior. We must. We. Must. Our daughters’ hearts are at stake. Let’s turn the world’s eyes to a generation of girls who rise and shout with confidence, “Bring it on!” all because they are clothed with strength and dignity #LikeAGodsGirl.
