Raising our children to love and follow Jesus can sometimes feel like an overwhelming assignment, wouldn't you agree? When the days feel long and hard, I'm encouraged to remember that God uses ordinary things to make an extraordinary difference. Check out this verse: 

"Impress (God's commandments) on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up" (Deut. 6:7). 

Sit. Walk. Lie down. Get up. These are ordinary things we do every day! This verse tells me that I can and should work God's Word into the every day routines I already have in place. Thank God that I don't have to be Mrs. Super Mom Down the Street who comes up with an impressive, detailed, four-part creative project to teach her kids about God. 

I can impress God's truths on my kids when I tuck them into bed at night. And when I greet them in the morning, I say, "This is the day the Lord has made! He has good things in store for you! Get up!" It drives them crazy but they're reminded each morning that they have a God-ordained destiny.

And friend, if you feel you've fallen short as a parent, join the club! I've never seen a "Mother of the Year" award hanging on a wall yet! We will all mistakes as parents, but God's grace fills in the gaps where we lack. Our kids are His kids and He will not abandon the works of His hands. Be encouraged today, friend! God is with you.
