Wifey Wednesday: Life and Death are in the Power of the Tongue

Research shows that women on average speak about 20,000 words a day while the average man speaks only 7,000. 

20,000 words! That's A LOT of words.

How many of you ladies can relate to having your husband's eyes glaze over while you rattle off the details of your day? My husband has even been known to fall asleep! Gasp! 

Look again at that staggering number: 20,000. How many of those words do we use each day to affirm our husbands? 

"Life and death are in the power of the tongue" (Proverbs 18:21). 

As wives, we have the power to speak life or death into our men. Husbands need to know they are noticed, loved, respected and appreciated. My guess is that our words mean more to our husband than anyone else's.  When a husband is built up by his wife's words, he is more likely to rise to any challenge that comes his way. He will be a better husband, dad, worker, etc.  In contrast, if he is constantly berated and disrespected by his wife, he will shut down and withdraw. 

So, my wifey friend, are you up for a challenge? How many of your 20,000 words can you use today to speak life into your man? Let's be wives whose husbands have full confidence in us and lack nothing of value. Let's bring our men good and not harm all the days of our life (Prov. 31:11,12).
