Super Mom's got a Secret Super Power

When I was a little girl, I loved dressing up as Super Woman.  I'd put on the shiny red and blue suit, stuff the bra with clumps of toilet paper and run around the house, using my secret powers to do awesome things like annoy my big brother.  As an adult, things haven't changed much.  I still want to be Super Woman, love a good, padded bra, and enjoy irritating my big brother from time to time.

What has changed are the areas in my life where I need extra power, energy and concentration.  As intentional, Godly moms and wives, our family is our home base and we long to be the mom and wife God created us to be.  We want to pursue our calling with excellence, but in our human-ness, we sometimes feel defeated before our kids feet hit the floor in the morning.

However, here's the exciting truth...as a Christ-follower, you have a secret power inside you that equipps you to face each day with courage, boldness and confidence.  Your secret power is God's Holy Spirit.  Second Peter 1:3 says, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us."  It is vital to learn about the Holy Spirit because he is your secret to pursuing your mom calling with excellence and conquering the many battles life throws at you.

We need to wrap our mind around the fact that God lives in you and me!  This means you have the greatest power in the universe living right on the inside of you!  God wants to exert his extraordinary power in and through you in your every day life.  Do you believe that?  Believing is the first step to accessing his power.  Once you believe it, you need to increase your knowledge of who the Holy Spirit is, what he does for you, and how you can claim that power. 

Here's my Top 10 list of what the Bible teaches about the Holy Spirit.

1.  He existed since the beginning. (Gen. 1:2)

2.  He is truth and guides you to know what is true.  (John 16:13)

3.  He speaks only the words of God and makes known to you the mysteries of God.  (John 16:14)

4.  You are anointed iwth the Spirit and he remains in you always. (1 John 2:27-28)

5.  He teaches you about all things. (1 John 2:27-28)

6.  He makes the core of who you are pure, holy, and righteous.  You are a new creation.  The old has gone.  The new has come!  (2 Corin. 5:17)

7.  He gives you everything you need for life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3)

8.  He gives you wisdom and revelation.  He opens the eyes of your heart so you can grasp this hope given to you through Jesus.  He has incomparably great power.  He raised Christ from the dead.  (Ephes 1:17-20)

9.  As a Christ follower, you are marked "child of God" with a seal which is the Holy Spirit.  This seal on you guarantees your inheritance of heaven.  (Eph. 1 13, 14)

10.  He sanctifies you, meaning, he instantly makes your spirit holy, righteous and pure so you are acceptable in God's sight, and are able to have an intimate, dynamic, personal relationship with him.  It also means, he is the one that guides you on your life-long journey to transform your heart, mind and soul to be more Christ-like.  (2 Thess. 2:13)

I would encourage you to dig deeper on your own because this is your secret to living a power-filled, abundant life in dynamic relationship with God!  Be encouraged by Deuteronomy 29:11,14, "Now, what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.  No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it."

God has called you!  God has equipped you!  You can be the mom God created you to be through the power of the Holy Spirit!  May God be praised!
