The Hardest Job You Ever Loved (part 2)

"Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:  'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.' " Proverbs 31:28-29

Last week, we talked about the fact that God has hand-picked you to be the mom of your kids.  When God looked out over all the women on earth, He knew you were best suited to raise up his newest masterpiece creation.  God has entrusted you to guide them toward their God-given destiny.  What privilege!  What purpose!  What influence!  Yay for mom!

This week's truth is -- your kids need you to be the mom God created you to be.  They need you to pursue your calling to be a Godly, positive, intentional mom.  Their lives really do depend on it.

What does it mean to be an intentional mom?  It has everything to do with how you set your mind.

An intentional mom fixes her mind on her purpose and the end goal.  She sets her mind with determination to act a certain way; to make a positive difference.  She perseveres in her calling when all she wants to do is give up.

An intentional mom sets her mind to love her kids unconditionally.  She's determined to be patient and is careful to discipline them.  She showers them with praise and encouragement.  She brings joy and peace to her home.

An intentional mom teaches her children how to be good and kind to others.  She sets her mind to be self-controlled.

And, above all else, an intenitonal mom puts her faith in God.  She desires to love Him with all her heart, mind, soul and strength.

Whew!  Think about all you're called to, dear moms!  I know that list of responsibilities overwhelms me!  How on earth can we be a Godly, positive, intentional mom when we fall so short of this high standard?  In our human-ness, we are so weak and full of failure.  I know I've screwed up way more times then I care to admit!

So how do we say yes to this calling and pursue it with excellence?

Come back next week to learn how to be a power-filled mom!  Look out Super Woman!  Here comes Super Mom and she's got a secret power!

God, thank you for another day to be "mom."  Help us to realize this high calling you have placed on us through this role and grow us into the mom you created us to be.  Help us pursue this job with excellence, realizing that our kids lives really do depend on it.  In Jesus powerful name, I pray.  Amen!
